The crowd was large and was inspired by the staged reading of "The Great Gatsy" performed by the fabulous Raconteur Radio. Thanks also to the Metuchen Borough Improvement League for sharing their space with us.
Our fundraiser on March 3rd, "An Afternoon with Andrew McCarthy," was a sold-out event! Many thanks to those who attended, to the volunteers who managed the event, and thanks to our sponsors: Friendly's, La Rosa's Pizza, Optique Unique, Marafiki Fair Trade, Metuchen Travel, and YMCA of Metuchen. Enjoy the beautiful photographs taken by Kyo Morishima. Our mission statement for improvements to the Metuchen Library is: "The Metuchen Library is celebrating its 75th anniversary. Initially built as a Works Progress Administration (WPA) project, we now have the opportunity to bring the library into the 21st century. The Trustees of the Library have framed a plan and will soon begin restoration of the children's room and the public community meeting space. The mission of the Friends is to augment these restoration efforts to create a public meeting space that has updated technology and a children's room that is welcoming and enhances lifelong learning and literacy. The Friends are undertaking a fundraising effort to support these enhancements. Dontations to the Friends are tax-deductible; the Friends is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization."
