Sharon has been an active participant in many town organizations throughout the 20+ years she has lived in town. Sharon has served as President of the Campbell School PTO, and on Rec Soccer, the Municipal Alliance and more. She has served on the Friends' Board for the past 6 years and finds the work really gratifying. Sharon is a Legal Assistant for a New York law firm.
Linda’s love of the public library started as a kid interested in reading mysteries, science fiction and wonderful stories about life on earth. She grew up to be an accountant who has been working for thirty years at fortune five hundred companies doing corporate taxes. Linda and her husband Rich moved to Metuchen six years ago and have been members of the Friends and active volunteers. She enjoys serving on the Board to bring the best possible experiences to the Metuchen Public Library
Hussain "Hoss" Ali-Kahn
Hoss serves as Treasurer of the FOTML. He is a 23 year resident of Metuchen and has children who are
proud graduates of the Metuchen Public Schools. He is an avid reader consuming over 50 books a year
and is happy to talk about them with anyone willing to listen. Hoss holds a B.A in English & Philosophy
from the Royal Military College of Canada and an MBA from the Richard Ivey School of Business at
Sue serves on the Board as the Corresponding Secretary, and also leads the Friends' annual Book Sale. Since 2009, she has lived in Metuchen with her husband and son. When she isn't reading something, she loves singing, personal finance, and New York.
Mara serves as the Recording Secretary and has assisted the Finance Committee in choosing appropriate
savings and investment methods.
Maryellen has been volunteering with FOTML since 2016. She serves as the Membership Committee Chair. Her duties include the coordination of our annual drive, recruitment of new Friends, and organization of our membership information. Maryellen was born and raised here in town, and returned in 2008 with her husband, with whom she is raising 3 sons. Maryellen is passionate about library advocacy, literacy, and grilled cheese sandwiches.
Pam, longtime Metuchen resident, is a retired Special Education teacher from J.P. Stevens High School,
Edison. A former member of the Metuchen Borough Council, Ms. Brown was the first female Police
Commissioner. She also established the first Youth Service Board and chaired the Middlesex County
Transportation Commission. Following service on the YMCA Board of Directors, Ms. Brown joined the
Friends in 2016. As Fundraising Chair, she coordinated events ranging from dramatic presentations,
wine/painting evenings, trips to Yankee Stadium and dinner with a movie night. Along with the Board,
she is looking forward to future community activities to benefit the Friends. Pamela Brown has been a
proud member of the Metuchen Library since 7th Grade.
Rebecca has been an FOTML trustee since 2019. She is a former youth services librarian with the Somerset County Library System and currently a stay-home mom to two young children. As a frequent library patron, she is grateful to have the opportunity to support library programs and materials.
Sondra has served the FOTML board and the Library in one way and another since 2004, as booksorter, product researcher, cart repairer, newsletter editor, and President. She has lived in and around Metuchen since 1981, and she and husband purchased a house here since 1997. Sondra worked for 28 years for the Department of Environmental Education, where she also served as Shop Steward and Commissioner of Recreational Softball. She holds a BA from Douglass College and an MA in Education Administration from Teachers College, Columbia University. She reads almost as many books a year as Hoss, and enjoys playing music with many people in town.
